On September 27, 2016, Anthony Calderaro passed away of a heroin overdose, just days before his 22nd birthday.

Anthony was outgoing and compassionate, with a passion for fishing, snowboarding, skateboarding, and making people smile. He could spend hours fishing on the Raritan River, or bodysurfing on the sandy beaches of Long Beach Island. Whether he was playing frisbee golf with his friends or spending time with his family, Anthony went out of his way to make sure everyone around him was happy. He held his head high, with a smile on his face, and a laugh to offer all of us. He was a connector who brought together amazing people. Through challenging times and everyday ups and downs, Anthony was an important source of support for his brother and sister, and many close friends. Anthony was loved by many and is deeply missed.

Anthony’s family created the Anthony Calderaro Memorial Fund to educate the community about the severity of heroin addiction and the dangers of overdose. We carry Anthony’s memory with us every day. Through this fund we aim to generate hope for others who may be struggling, and for their families who have a chance to enjoy many more years with their loved ones.
