Laura’s Really Long Walk

As a kid I toyed with the idea of hiking the entirety of the Appalachian Trail, a 2,193 mile footpath from Georgia to Maine. The plan back then was to convince my sisters to join, along with a film crew, but Lifetime never called, and they both got big kid jobs.

I have been focusing on doing the things I truly want to do, not what I feel like I am supposed to want, not what other people think I should want, but what genuinely brings me joy. And right now, that is challenging myself physically and mentally, being in touch with the world around me, listening to my gut and getting to know myself fully.

Covid delayed my start a bit, but I got walkin’ on May 22nd, 2020. With this later start, I decided to take a less common route called a Flip Flop. I started in the middle and hiked north to Maine, then I will flew back to the middle and hiked south to Georgia. I finished 6 months later in Georgia, on November 30th, 2020.

I am so grateful for all the support and encouragement.
Love and appreciate each and every one of you.

Enjoy the ramblings of my journey.
